Members of the UBC who focus on scaffolding are responsible for erecting, inspecting, maintaining and dismantling scaffolding on projects in the residential, industrial, commercial and institutional sectors ranging from small to multibillion dollar projects.
Scaffold plays a critical role on all types of construction projects. Scaffolding enables members to work on buildings from the outside enabling members to work safely, productively and efficiently. Scaffold provides the ability to move around a project while having a safe place to work. The basic components of scaffolding are tubes, couplers and boards. The main types of scaffolding used on projects today include Tube and Coupler scaffolding (also referred to as Tube and Clamp), prefabricated modular system scaffold components and H-frame/Facade Modular Systems. Specialized components used in scaffolding erecting and dismantling include heavy duty load bearing transoms, ladders and stairway units for the ingress and egress of the scaffold.
